Instrument
: Stress Tech Microscan 500-2

It is used to find residual stresses in ferromagnetic materials. Activates and locates the magnetoelastic signal. It energizes the sensor, processes the signal and converts the measuring voltage to numerical values and other units.

Specifications

  • Measuring Depth  (For Iron): between 0.02mm and 0.2mm
  • Total Signal Frequency Range: 3 kHz - 1000 kHz
  • Measurement Parameters
    • Magnetization Frequency: 1-1000 Hz
    • Magnetization Voltage: 0-20 Vpp
    • Sampling Frequency: 0.1 - 0.2 - 0.5 - 1 - 2 - 5 MHz.
    • Number of bursts: 2-1000

Sample Requirements

Samples should be ferromagnetic and have their own reference samples for comparison.

Applications

Typical applications of the Microscan system are given below:

  • The relationship between different microstructures and Barkhausen Noise
  • Stress, plastic deformation, hardness, etc. stratification of effects.
  • Developing new non-destructive testing applications.
  • Determination of optimum measurement conditions for general research studies.
