Scanning Electron Microscope
Instrument: QUANTA 400F Field Emission SEM
The high-resolution scanning electron microscope has a resolution of 1.2 nm.
Analysis Requests
- Appointment requests for the SEM Laboratory are accepted by the analysis application office (merlabmetu [dot] edu [dot] tr ).
- Sample owners can request an appointment two weeks before the date they request an appointment, provided that they complete the analysis application form and analysis request form on our website and send the signed copies to merlabmetu [dot] edu [dot] tr after being scanned.
- Incomplete and unapproved forms will not be considered.
- Samples must be brought between 10:00-12:00 on Monday of the week for which the appointment is made. Otherwise, the appointment will be CANCELED. Charges will be made over the time written in the analysis time section of the analysis request form.
- Requests should be made on Mondays and Tuesdays of the week. Appointments will be arranged on a bi-weekly basis.
- Appointments will be made EARLY two weeks after the application date.
- The relevant experts will review the FULL-filled forms and determine the appropriate time intervals and the applicants will be contacted through the analysis application office.
Appointment Conditions
There is no analysis on Monday morning, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. The SEM analysis timeframes are as follows:
Morning Sessions: 9:30-10:30 / 11:00-12:00
Afternoon sessions: 14:00 - 15:00 / 15:30 - 16:30
- Up to 10 samples can be examined per session.
- Even if it is for different students, the same faculty member is given a maximum of 2 sessions of SEM a week.
- Monday morning sessions were accepted as sample preparation.
- Sample owners are requested to be at the METU Central Laboratory R&D, Training and Measurement Center at 10:00, if the analysis appointment is in the afternoon, at 11:00 for the preparation of the samples, on the Monday of the week where the samples will be analyzed.
- The preparation of the samples is done by the people who request the analysis.
- Those who do not attend the sample preparation sessions on Mondays will have their appointments cancelled.
