Agarose Gel Electrophoresis System (DNA)
These systems perform electrophoresis using submerged horizontal gels, which offers many advantages for nucleic acid and protein separation and is an essential tool for molecular biology research. Four different systems are available: Mini Electrophoresis Unit, Midi Electrophoresis Unit, GenePhor Electrophoresis Unit, and MultiPhor II Electrophoresis System.
Mini Electrophoresis Unit
Instrument: Hoefer HE 33, Mini Submarine Electrophoresis Unit
This horizontal agarose unit is designed for rapid electrophoresis of small amounts of nucleic acids in agarose gels. The base of the unit contains cooling apparatus that can be cooled before the run. This passive cooling capacity allows for fast and high voltage operation.

- Max. number of sample wells: 8
- Max. voltage: 500 V - for 5 minutes or less-
- Max. power: 15W
- Max. current: 500 mA
- Coolant: ~600 ml 50/50 water/ethylene glycol
- Gel dimensions: 7 x 10 cm
- Separable nucleotide size: up to 23 kb doubles
Midi Electrophoresis Unit
Instrument: Hoefer HE 99X, Submarine Electrophoresis Unit
This unit separates nucleic acid fragments electrophoretically in submarine gels. Gels can be poured in three different lengths.
Specifications
- Max. number of sample wells: 15
- Max. voltage: 200V
- Max. power: 20W
- Max. current: 100 mA
- Gel dimensions: 15 cm wide x 10, 15 or 20 cm long
- Separable nucleotide size: up to 23 kb doubles
Instrument: GenePhor Electrophoresis Unit
GenePhor Electrophoresis Unit; It is a horizontal electrophoresis unit that is dense, temperature-controlled, does not need to be run with liquid buffer solution, and provides clean and efficient separation of DNA fragments for the determination of isotopic and non-isotopic methods. At the touch of a button, the onboard Peltier cooling system can reach any temperature between 5 and 65°C in minutes, shortening the long balancing time. More importantly, as a critical factor for harmonious separations using temperature-sensitive techniques, the cooling system and safety cover ensure uniform and stable temperature over the entire surface of the gel during running.
Applications
It is designed for the following electrophoretic analyzes of DNA applications:
- PCR parts,
- restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP), heteroduplex analysis, single strand conformation polymorphism analysis, SSCP,
- randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD)
- Variable number of tandem repeats (VNTR).
Specifications
- Max. voltage: 1000V
- Max. Power consumption: 100W
- Temperature programming range: 5.0-65.0ºC
- Dimensions (WxDxH): 2380 x 350 x 150 mm
Instrument: Multiphor II Electrophoresis Systems
This electrophoresis system is a versatile modular system for horizontal electrophoretic analysis of both nucleic acid fragments and proteins. Multiphore? The modular design of the II gives it the flexibility to handle almost any horizontal electrophoretic technique. It is particularly well suited for gels that are extremely thin (0.1?0.5-mm) on glass supports or up to 20 × 26 cm on plastic supports. In addition to being available in various sizes, the electrodes provide safe and continuous contact with a variety of buffer strips, eliminating the need for large volumes of liquid buffers.
Applications
- Configure the system for one- or two-dimensional protein electrophoresis, concentric focusing, or DNA particle analysis.
- Choose from a wide range of ready-made gels or pour your own gel for special applications.
- It allows efficient and uniform cooling of ultra-thin gels with ceramic cooling plates for enhanced separation and high voltage rates.
- Using with adjustable electrodes allowing to be used in gels of different sizes.
Specifications
- Max. Voltage: 3500 Vp-p(with reference to +/- 1750 V ground)
- Max. power: 100W
- Max. pressure: 0.5 bar
- Dimensions: 16 x 31 x 40 cm
- Separable nucleotide size: up to 23 kb doubles
